        The Wells 
          Historical Society Archives has a photograph collection depicting subjects 
          related to the Wells area from the 1830s to the 1980s. Over 1,500 photographs 
          in the collection are individually indexed and are temporarily available 
          for reference at the Barkerville Historic Town Library and Archives 
          Reference Room. Please note that the Wells Archives are a separate entity 
          from the Barkerville Historic Town Library and Archives, but are housed 
          in the same building and accessed by employees of Barkerville Historic 
          Town. 
        
        The 
          Barkerville Historic Town and Wells Historical Society - Library and 
          Archives
        Barkerville 
          Historic Town Archives and Wells Historical Society Archives collectively 
          has an extensive photograph collection depicting subjects relating to 
          the Barkerville and Wells area history, government and culture from 
          the 1860s to the 1980s. Over 10,000 photographs from both collections 
          are individually indexed and many are available in reference binders 
          in the Barkerville Historic Town Library and Archives Reference Room.
        Public 
          Records
          The Barkerville Historic Town Archives is the repository of informational 
          of historical value to the Barkerville and Wells area. This includes 
          Public Records and documents related to the planning, research and development 
          of Wells. Public records can include books, documents, maps, drawings, 
          photographs, letters, vouchers, papers and any other thing on which 
          information is recorded and/or stored by any means whether graphic, 
          electronic, mechanical or otherwise. The Wells Historical Society Archives 
          features Cariboo Gold Quartz Company records, as this company functioned 
          as the primary economic and political unit in the area. 
          Private Records
          Both the Wells Historical Society and Barkerville Historic Town Archives 
          collect the personal records of community members as well as the private 
          records of organizations and businesses. These records reflect the social, 
          political and economic life of the Barkerville, Wells and Cariboo Goldfields 
          area, provided such records are of informational and historical value 
          to the community.
          The Archives collects visual records, including photographs, video tapes, 
          maps, plans, drawings, and paintings relating to the history of the 
          Barkerville, Wells and Cariboo Goldfields area. The Wells Historical 
          Society Archives collects photographs specifically on Wells. The Barkerville 
          Historic Town Archives collects photographs that include the Barkerville 
          and Cariboo Goldfields areas.
          Barkerville Historic Town Library and Archives collects published material 
          including books and pamphlets relating to the area, these materials 
          must have permanent research value. Materials acquired by the Wells 
          Historical Society Archives become the permanent property of the Wells 
          Historical Society, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing. . Materials 
          acquired by Barkerville Historic Town Library and Archives become the 
          permanent property of the Province. When donating material please indicate
